Forge your own star realm, overloaded with cuteness! Academy is a kid-friendly but still fun for grown‑ups version of the popular Star Realms Deckbuilding Game®. Less math, no reading necessary, but still tons of fun! Includes a large folding game board, 2 player boards, 60 game cards, 52 punchouts, and a rulebook.
My kids grasped the deckbuilding rules after one round, which surprised me since heavier card games usually lose them fast. The artwork is adorable without being babyish, so I'm happy to keep playing it after bedtime too.
I picked this up to play with my 8-year-old and we've already gotten through half a dozen games. The kid-friendly rules let her actually understand what she's doing without me fudging the rules, but the deckbuilding still gives me enough decisions to stay engaged.
The art is adorable but the deckbuilding still has real teeth — I lost to my kid twice before figuring out the combos. Setup takes two minutes and the whole thing fits in a coat pocket, so it's been our go-to at restaurants.
